Comparing KANGURU, IRONKEY and MXI Secure USB Devices
Ironkey devices look the business. They are super rugged and come with quite an attractive package. They are big and heavy but are super secure and are one of the best at implementing the core encryption technology. Adding additional services like making a personal version into an enterprise version is not possible. Ditto for adding cloud based management for enterprise keys. Their prices are quite high too, though not totally unjustifiable. They are the Porsche of the secure USB world. AntiVirus comes at an additional cost. They come with a year’s warranty
MXI devices look very professional but are on the bulky side. They are the only ones that have a UK government certified device. Amongst the compared devices, they are the only ones that make a biometrics based secure USB drive. They have no facility for cloud based remote management. AntiVirus is an extra. They come with 1 years warranty. These devices are geared towards corporates. Their average offering cost a little less than Ironkey.
Kanguru devices look like ordinary USB drives, which might be a good thing or not, depending on how you look at it. They are the most flexible in terms of adding additional services and they are (comparatively) the most reasonably priced. They come with free years anti virus subscription. Adding cloud based remote management is a breeze. Their Defender 2000 is an Ironkey competitor. They come with the largest storage capacity. They also allow custom colours and engraving on the USB drives for bulk orders.
